Archibald Thorburn was born close to Edinburgh, Scotland, the child of the miniaturist Robert Thorburn ARA. He is presently recognized as perhaps the best painter of birdlife ever. Thorburn got minimal formal creative training, yet his vocation as a painter of birds started in 1883 when he finished 144 plates for WF Swaysland’s Familiar Wild Birds. By and large, preferring to work in watercolor, Thorburn’s ability, imaginative ability, and logical perception guaranteed that he was perceived as one of the leading craftsmen of his time. He kicked the bucket in 1935.
