Theodore Robinson was born in Irasburg, Vermont, and experienced childhood in Evansville, Wisconsin. He examined the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design. In 1876 he left for a very long time in France, where he concentrated with Emile-Auguste Carolus-Duran and Jean-Lecon Gerome in Paris. He later instructed at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He spent his last years applying his Monet-roused impressionism to the American view of Vermont and Connecticut. These late American works, well gotten by pundits at his initial short time presentation at the Macbeth Gallery in 1895, released in Robinson another and profoundly felt a passionate bond with his local land.
