Goodwin Albert was born in Maidstone, Kent, in England on 17th of January 1845. He was a prolific landscapist specialising in watercolours with the influence of Turner and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. At the age of 15 his first painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy. He then continuously produced over 800 works even in his eighties. His wide range of landscape subjects reflected his love of travel and exploration. In later works he developed experimental techniques such as using ink over watercolor to achieve atmospheric lighting in his masterpieces. His paintings and watercolor art pieces can be seen in the Chris Beetles Gallery, one of London’s most popular commercial art galleries, specialising in traditional British watercolour, illustration, oil paintings and more.
