Artist: Gay Walter America 1856 to 1937

Walter Gay was born in Hingham, Massachusetts. His painting portrays interiors, especially those of eighteenth-century French buildings. His style was conventional, and he disregarded the influences of pioneer paintings he saw while studying in Paris beginning in 1876. He remained in Europe for the remainder of his life.
